Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2011 Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2011

Although I usually freeze at the mere thought of having to pick a "favorite" anything, I won't hesitate to say that to me, Dolce & Gabbana is the most aesthetically pleasing Spring/Summer 2011 collection so far. I say "aesthetically pleasing", not "the best" because it didn't introduce anything groundbreaking, but then again, it didn't want to introduce anything groundbreaking in the first place and that makes all the difference.

They've been at it for so long that you can call it safe play, but Dolce & Gabbana's nth repetition of the "Sicilian woman" theme delivers. The collection? It's pretty. It's wearable. It's cohesive. It will sell. And I think there's still a lot of charm in that same old motive, too. It provides balance. It's never abstract. Large hoop and dangle earrings, golden cross necklaces, black and white like old movies, Catholic imagery fused with that eternal sexy vibe. It's stripped of all nonsense. It's exactly how Sicily feels in my imagination.

Most of all, I love how this time Dolce and Gabbana simply let clothes be clothes.

I haven't fully checked this out on style.com, but from what I've seen on other blogs this reminds me of the Dolce & Gabbana that I fell in love with when I was younger.

I agree. It seems that it hasn't lost the flair with time, which is remarkable - especially in fashion.

I loved this collection! It had a lot of white, with random pops of black which was interesting. I also loved the leopard and floral, just to remain true to D&G! Beautiful as always.
